AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY / LASER MEDICINE.

SCARS TREATMENT: FROM ACNE SCARS TO INJURY SCARS.

Scars can not only affect the appearance of the skin, but can also be painful and psychologically stressful. Keloids in particular, which grow bulging and raised, often cause tension and discomfort. In our practice, we offer effective scar treatment to improve both the aesthetic appearance and alleviate discomfort.

PROCESS OF TREATMENT.

Treating scars and keloids with fractional erbium laser is one of the most modern and effective methods to improve the appearance of scars. At the beginning of the treatment, the affected area is cleaned and prepared to ensure optimal treatment. The fractional erbium laser works with microscopic laser beams that specifically penetrate the skin and create tiny “micro-channels”. This stimulates the skin's natural healing and promotes the formation of new, healthy skin cells.

The advantage of the fractional erbium laser is its precision and minimal damage to the surrounding tissue. This technique is particularly suitable for treating old and fresh scars, including acne scars or surgical scars. The treatment is generally well tolerated and the targeted application of the laser effectively smoothes the skin structure and visibly reduces the scar.

This method is ideal for treating annoying acne scars, surgical scars or other types of scars that affect the appearance of the skin.

In addition to laser treatment, triamcinolone injections can be used in certain cases to further reduce the scar. Triamcinolone is a cortisone drug that softens scar tissue, reduces inflammation, and may further inhibit keloid formation. This combination of laser and injection ensures even better treatment of scars, especially when reducing keloids and hypertrophic scars.

AFTER CARE.

Scar treatment with the Erbium YAG laser is minimally invasive and generally well tolerated. Mild redness and swelling may occur after treatment, which usually resolves within a few days. It is important to protect the skin intensively from UV radiation in order to avoid pigmentation disorders. Depending on the type and depth of the scar, several sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

Your dermatologist will accompany you throughout the entire process and give you recommendations for optimal care and follow-up treatment.

GOOD TO KNOW.

The fractional erbium laser can also be used preventively to counteract poor scarring after surgical procedures. Early application of the laser immediately after surgery prevents the formation of hypertrophic scars or keloids by promoting healing of the skin and specifically structuring the scar tissue. This proactive use supports the natural healing process and helps scars to become flatter and less visible, significantly improving the cosmetic result.
